At WightFibre, we’re passionate about giving back to our community. Through our Connected Communities Programme, we’re thrilled to welcome Ability Dogs 4 Young People IoW as one of our latest charity partners, providing them with free broadband and telephone services. This partnership reflects our commitment to helping local organisations that make a tangible difference to people’s lives here on the Isle of Wight.

Who are Ability Dogs 4 Young People?

Ability Dogs 4 Young People is a local charity that trains assistance dogs for young people with disabilities. These incredible dogs help individuals manage conditions such as cerebral palsy, autism, epilepsy, and anxiety, empowering them to live more independent and fulfilling lives. Given that 20% of the island’s population lives with a disability, the need for support is both real and growing. The charity has had a fantastic year, working tirelessly to train and place fourteen dogs with families in need. But with over forty young people currently on their waiting list, there is much more work to be done.

Why Connectivity Matters:

For a charity like Ability Dogs 4 Young People, staying connected is essential. With our full-fibre broadband and telephone services, they can efficiently coordinate training schedules, communicate with their volunteers, and stay in touch with supporters. This level of connectivity allows them to manage their operations smoothly while focusing on their primary goal of training dogs that will transform the lives of disabled young people. Access to the internet is also vital for raising awareness, recruiting volunteers, and securing donations. WightFibre’s high-speed broadband enables the charity to share its inspiring stories and reach a wider audience.

Join the Cause:

We’re incredibly proud to be able to support such a life-changing charity. By offering free broadband and telephone services, WightFibre is helping to make sure that Ability Dogs 4 Young People can continue their incredible work in training assistance dogs that bring independence, companionship, and joy to young people with disabilities.

If you want to get involved, the charity is always on the lookout for compassionate volunteers to become Puppy Parents. This vital role involves guiding the early development of a future assistance dog, helping them learn essential skills that will eventually make a life-changing difference to a young person in need. Everything you’ll need—food, veterinary care, and equipment—is provided by the charity, so all you need to bring is your time and dedication.
