On Sunday the 26th of June, 8 Island charities went head to head to scale the 10m climbing wall (kindly donated by Challenge and Adventure) and be crowned #FastestIW. The wall was located in the Main Ring, sponsored by WightFibre at the Royal Isle of Wight County Show.

The teams that took part were:

UKSA

A youth charity that uses sailing and watersports as a catalyst to transform young people’s lives. Their inspirational youth development and maritime training courses equip young people with new work skills and life skills that start at sea.

Ellen McArthur Trust

The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust takes young people aged between 8-24 sailing to help them regain their confidence, on their way to recovery from cancer.

The Royal Isle of Wight Agricultural Society

A member led registered charity that works to support Island agriculture and the conservation of the natural environment, raise awareness and promote understanding of rural issues to all Island residents and offer financial support to help Island students to further their studies in agriculture, the natural environment and related subjects.

Earl Mountbatten Hospice

Earl Mountbatten Hospice is an independent charity providing comprehensive end-of-life healthcare for the Isle of Wight community. They support and care for people living with and dying from a life-limiting illness.

Challenge and Adventure

Challenge and adventure use challenging outdoor activities alongside tailored support to challenge young people’s behaviour and to help raise their confidence, self esteem and aspirations. Their aim is to help them re-engage at school, home and in the wider community and to help them get their lives back on track.

Age UK

Age UK is the country’s largest charity dedicated to helping everyone make the most of later life. They believe in a world where everyone can love later life and they work every day to achieve it. Age UK help more than 5m people every year providing support, companionship and advice for older people who need it most.

RNLI

The RNLI provide, a 24-hour on call lifeboat search and rescue service around the UK and Ireland, and a seasonal lifeguard service. With their lifeboats, lifeguards, safety advice and flood rescue, they are committed to saving lives.

Action Isle of Wight
