The Isle of Wight Radio Local Hero Awards 2016

Last Thursday (6th of October) at a beautifully decorated Cowes Yacht Haven, individuals from around the Isle of Wight were recognised for their hard work and devotion with a variety of poignant awards.
Before the awards began CEO of Wightfibre, John Irvine took part in a quick-fire Speedtest, just like the daily Isle of Wight Radio competition in which Islanders can win cash prizes (provided by Wightfibre). John took to the stage with Paul Topping and Emily Wells to answer questions.
Wighfibre were proud to once again be the main sponsors for 2016 and John Irvine presented the award of Overall Hero to John Cattle, founder of Wight Trash. John Cattle has worked tirelessly for years now teaching Islanders young and old to skateboard whilst encouraging active lifestyles and confident attitudes.
